some kind of funny

A couple days ago I walked out in the Back 13 and tried to snap pictures of what we joke is now our waterfront property.

But you just can't tell from the pictures. It's like trying to photograph the Badlands. A picture doesn't always show everything.

Yesterday I went out hiking again and snuck up on an otter who was playing just ten feet away from me...in an area there shouldn't be water. (No camera because it was pouring. You'll have to use your imagination.)

Ah, the spring thaw. This one is gonna be nasty. I can already tell, because if you consider what I woke up to today...

We're supposed to get eight inches. Where will all the water go?

That's some kind of funny.

  1. Oh wow, that is unbelieveable. Is the house area safely away from rising water? I hope it doesn't get as bad as they are predicting.

  2. GeezOPetes! The news said you guys were supposed to get hit pretty bad again. Are you having trouble with the ice dams in your area also? It looked pretty menacing in the video clip. Frozen swamp muck...yummmm :}

  3. Oh no! What a mess. Well that is a point for when you buy the farm. High ground. Get as high as possible.

  4. "Spring" is truly an oxymoron in the state of Minnesota. Sigh.

  5. Its lovely here, let me tell ya! Yes Erin, the house is far away from flooding, I think the water would have to come up 6 more feet before it would even get to the house (we're on a little bit of a incline.) My dad said the water would go over the road before it would come in the house, and for that to happen...there would be all sorts 'o stuff that would hit the fan!!

  6. Oh my. That is *so* much more water than we have here right now - and we have a lot. I wonder what that otter thinks of the new snow...

  7. Sarah - I'm also wondering what that otter thinks. And where he is. Although, at this rate, maybe he will be up farther in my yard in the next couple days (when this all melts) and I'll be able to snap a picture of him. :)

  8. Waterfront property without the extra taxes! Well, hopefully you'll have a slow melt off of the new stuff. C'mon Spring!

  9. YIKES! Our spring thaw hasn't started yet and with the lake already full to overflowing no one wants any more water...

    Best wishes with your flood...
