Remember all that lumber we saved from pulling down the building?
We're using it in different places around the farm.
Right now, we're patching in different places on Big Red....
...and replacing broken or missing doors.
A patch work job of patchwork before Big Red gets her shiny new coat of paint. (New barn paint: A condition of the loan we ended up with to purchase the farm.)
Yep, we've been working hard at patching.
Well, actually...this guy has.
Have I mentioned how nice it is to have a live-in carpenter? ;)

Ah, having a live-in real life carpenter on a homestead/farm would be heaven on earth! Hubby and I (with technical help now and then) do manage to "get it done" but we sure ain't professionals!
ReplyDeleteWow. You sure are lucky. I would sacrifice a beloved body part or two to have the kind of help you have. That barn is going to be even more beautiful than before (if that's possible). Keep the pictures coming!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job he is doing! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so blessed to have a multi-generation family, and not just because he is a good carpenter!
ReplyDeleteBarn is looking good. I bet with a new coat of paint it will be so pretty. What a big job though. Painting a barn.

Its looking good! I wish we had a big red barn instead of our tan morton barn
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Good job repurposing all that stuff, will save a ton of money!
ReplyDeleteBig Red is going to be soooo bee-you-tee-ful after all the repairs and the new coat of paint! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is really looking good. On a farm, there is always a use for every piece of every thing.
ReplyDeleteRecycling at its best!
ReplyDeleteI am lucky enough to have a live-in carpenter/plumber/handyman too. It saves us SO much $$!
Keep up the good work, the farm is looking great!
Is it great to have the wood to recycle to other projects!? I get wood from two places and use it in so many projects around the homestead! Right now I'm building a chicken coop, all out of recycled wood! The only exspence is screws and a set of hinges.

Can you feel how happy the barn is, getting its good looks and respect back? What a lovely connection you now have with this grand old structure. She's so pleased! And with a new red dress soon, my oh, my, won't she be magnificent?
ReplyDeleteExcellent re-use of materials! And once you paint, it will look great.
