just down the road
I love this picture.
And I love that I can take this picture almost any day.
I love that our dirt road leads to a river where my boys can go fishing.
Just like that. It's just right there.
"Hey...can you take us down to the river so we can fish?"
Of course. Yes. Absolutely. Because I know places like this, times like this aren't the norm anymore. Not out where most the rest of the world lives.
That's why I'm so glad we're not out with the rest of the world. That's why I'm thankful for our little five acre farm with the big red barn...and the river at the end of the dirt road. :)

There's nothing better than seeing a kid with a fishin' pole!
ReplyDeleteYour boys are blessed . . . in more ways than one! (As are you because of them!!)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, good times right there.
ReplyDeleteWas there fish for supper? The amazing thing is that other people don't even know what they are missing.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your boys and the whole family is so happy there but I'm your 1 commenter who is a worry wart and then some so I'm sending the boys a couple extra guardian angels( just to help catch fish ya know ,not to worry mom)
ReplyDeleteWe can walk to at the end of our dirt road and through a path in the woods to get to a lake for fishing. Getting there is half that fun!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. There are a few pockets of rural wholesomeness in our big USA. Those of us that are blessed to live in these pockets of wholesomeness are the lucky ones. I love living in our Small Town USA. The stuff people think only exist in fiction books. Certainly not meant to be taken for granted.

Makes me want to be there...I remember growing up for a time in Texas, outside of Houston. I was maybe 10yo. I'd spend all day long playing in the woods, in the ditches with crawdads and tadpoles. I'd wander all day long. Went home when I got hungry.
ReplyDeleteYou have given your children and yourselves an amazing gift!
What a great photo! Such a blessing to live where you do and to recognize that it's a really good thing...one that needs to be enjoyed often!
